First Crisis Management Exercise on Port Protection The CICTE Secretariat, in collaboration with the “Prefectura Naval Argentina”, and within the strategic partnership with the Inter-American Drug Abuse Control Commission (CICAD) and the Inter-American Committee on Ports (CIP) of the Organization of American States, the US Coast Guard, the US Department of State and Transport Canada, undertook the “First Crisis Management Exercise on Port Protection” in the Port of Buenos Aires, Argentina, on September 12-14, 2007. The main aim of the tabletop exercise was to effectively assess the complex nature of the response capacities and mandates of each of the entities involved in a crisis situation within a port facility in order to tackle eventual vulnerabilities in port facilities security plans. The participants of the event were officials of the “Prefectura Naval Argentina” from the different areas with responsibilities in a crisis management situation. Observers from Mexico (1), the United States of America (2) and Uruguay (3), as well as from the private sector were also invited. For more information, contact the manager assigned to the program |
